The Double Flowering Crape Jasmine, or Jasmine ‘Flore Pleno’ is like perfume in the garden. Monrovia growers describes this jasmine variety as being night fragrant with carnation like scent. The crape jasmine has large white blooms up to 3 inches wide, and will begin blooming at an early age. The crape jasmine grows quickly, reaching heights to 6 to 8 feet, (or clip to shape) making it a possibility as a sweet smelling hedge or screen. The Flore Pleno is not too picky to soil quality, taking full sun to some shade in extreme summer areas. Hardy to USDA zone 9 and all higher zones, so it will need some protection in extreme winter areas. Water regularly until the plant is established. Plant in a container and move under cover of porch or patio where fragrance can be enjoyed. Shipped potted in soil to ensure a healthier start when planted in yard or garden.
