Variegated Japanese Silver Grass, or Miscanthus sinensis 'Variegatus' is a grass that makes an exceptional light minty green and white accent for beds and borders, and large rock gardens. Plant this miscanthus variety as a vertical accent among low-growing plants or at the corners of a square patio. Line it up as background foliage for a bed of dwarf shrubs and perennials. The Japanese Silver Grass is perfect near water gardens and fountains as wildlife cover, to disguise mechanical pumps or filters and to give the illusion of reeds. This ornamental grass is lovely in cobalt-blue or mint-green ceramic pots for patio, porch or terrace. Silvery white plumes late season. Plant in full sun, growing to about 6 feet tall and about 3 feet wide. Herbaceous. Hardy to USDA zone 5 and all higher zones. Shipped as a very well established plant in its original soil and container.
