Storm Cloud agapanthus has flowers with much darker purple color than some of the older varieties we've grown to love, giving a nice contrast when mass planted with a few light blue or white species. Use agapanthus to provide good foliage accent to broad leafed evergreen shrubs. Invaluable in rock groupings or near water elements in the yard. Storm cloud agapanthus are one of the best when a little height is needed but not a lot of lateral growth. Plant towards the rear of mixed perennial borders or in mass for a dramatic show. Foliage clumps to about 2 feet tall with flower stalks to about 3 to 4 feet. This lily of the nile is hardy to USDA zone 7 and higher, enjoying full sun (not reflected heat) or a bit of shade. Shipped potted in soil to ensure the best possible start when planted in yard or garden.
