Stella is a great cherry ! If space is at a premium, and you only have room for one cherry tree, than Stella is the one for you. It is self fertile, and will also pollinate other sweet cherries. The fruit that you will harvest from your Stella cherry will be large, dark red, and nearly black. The cherries are firm, sweet, dark red, with flesh that has good flavor and texture, also resistant to cracking. This cherry variety bears at a young age, so not a long wait for fresh cherries picked right from your own tree. The tree eventually reaches 10 to 15 feet tall or easily clip to shape. Watch for birds. Shipped potted in soil to ensure a healthier start when planted in yard or garden. Tree about 3 to 4 feet tall, new planting.

Frequently Asked Questions
I've heard of Bing cherry, but what can you tell me about this variety?
Fruit that is firm and sweet with good flavor without the need of a pollinator. Stella will pollinate any other sweet cherry variety, so a good one to have in your home orchard.

What should I be doing to prepare my fruit trees for winter?
Follow appropriate guidelines for winter time pruning for your particular fruit tree for your particular area. Some trees make fruit on two year wood thus needing a different approach to pruning then those which fruit on spring wood such as peaches or nectarines. If you are un-sure, contact your local nursery professional or feel free to call or email us. Click on "Contact Us" for phone and email address.

Any products I should be applying to help them maintain good health?
Apply a dormant spray appropriate for your area. This usually involves an insecticide such as Volck or Safe-t-Side Oil that smothers any over wintering critters. Apply a copper fungicide while the trees are dormant to prevent typical spring time issues such as brown rot or leaf curl. The copper fungicide is 'soft' on the environment. www.montereylawngarden.com has many of these products and it looks like they ship directly to consumers. It has been a company I've been familiar with for a long time.

Anything else?
Yes. Rake up any fallen leaves and pick up any moldy fruit that may have fallen to the ground, as many of next years issues over winter here. A good clean environment around the tree in the winter will prevent many headaches next spring.
