Prime Jim Fruiting Blackberry is a desirable variety, as it sets fruit on first year wood as well as second year wood. The Prime Jim is erect growing and thorny with good flavored, sweet berries with small seed size. Yield varies by location, with greater crop size in areas conducive to the plants needs and desires, as well as how well soil is prepped and plants fed and nurtured. First year’s crop is late fall, followed by a summer and a fall crop on year number two. Prime Jim is a variety suitable and recommended for home gardens, best in cooler areas, as summer temperatures above 85 can reduce fruit set, size and quality.
