The Gold Star Potentilla is a densely branched shrub valued for its beautiful display of large, golden-yellow blooms in summer. This deer resistant plant is uniquely resistant to heat and poor soil, and is a natural candidate for drought resistant gardens. Plant this spreading form of potentilla in the full sun, using it as a ground cover or as single mounds of color among both shrub beds and perennials. The Gold Star potentilla, only growing to about 2 to 3 feet tall and wide makes a good foundation plant around buildings or along the base of fence lines, and would make a lovely carefree filler for country garden in spots bathed in afternoon heat. Deciduous. The Gold Star is hardy to USDA zone 3 and all higher zones, and is shipped potted in soil to ensure the best possible start when planted in yard or garden.
