The Fort McNair Flowering Horse chestnut is a beautiful, round-headed tree perfectly suited for use in smaller yards. The blossoms are produced in long dense clusters of single bright-red flowers that are very attractive and favored by hummingbirds. The Fort McNair horsechestnut tree is deciduous, and does well in full sun. This horsechestnut variety is a slow grower to about 30 feet tall or clip to shape. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Watering can be reduced after establishment. Disease resistant.
