Lime Mound Spirea has bright yellow foliage that matures to yellow-green in summer and turns a coppery-orange in fall. Pink flowers in the summer contrast with the leaves. This spirea variety's compact habit makes it a good choice in the foreground of shrub borders, contrasting nicely with many other colors in the garden, especially burgundy colors from Japanese Barberry or bronze colors from low growing sedums. Lime mound spirea is a moderate grower to three to four feet tall, spreading wider or clip to shape. Deciduous. Full sun and cold hardy to USDA zone 3 and all higher zones. Exceptional as foundation plant, for shrub borders along fences, walls and buildings. Leave natural to bring long term color and brightness into wild gardens against backgrounds of conifers and dark foliaged evergreens. Shipped as a potted two gallon plant in its original soil and container.
