The Elberta peach is large, usually elongated. Skin golden yellow, flushed with red where exposed to sun. Yellow flesh, very rich and sweet. California's leading peach for all purposes. Ripens July. Freestone. Great for fresh eating or canning. Shipped potted in soil to ensure the best possible start when planted in yard or garden. Tree about 4 feet tall, new planting. Fruit good for fresh eating, cooking, canning, drying, freezing, juice, jams & jellies and even ice cream.
These peaches are really yummy, ones that are hard to resist. Slice some up, place in a bowl and cover with half-and-half, then sprinkle just a bit of sugar over the top. One of my favorite desserts from my childhood.
