The Mexican Thornless lime, also known as Key lime, is the bartender`s lime, with the added bonus of having no thorns. For baking, this variety's claim to fame is its use in making Key lime pie. An additional benefit of the thornless strain is that the fruit is larger, ripening in late fall. Evergreen. Full sun. Moderate grower to 15 feet tall, 6 to 8 feet wide or clip to shape. Mature fruit is small, green to yellow green ripening in July to December. Can be grown indoors during the winter for those in extreme winter areas.
