Japanese maple "Emerald Lace" is a delicate, cut leaf variety that would be effective in the shade garden tumbling over a small boulder, or used as an accent near a water feature. This Acer variety can grow to about 5 to 6 feet tall, but can be clipped to any size or shape to accent its features. The Emerald Lace starts the season with yellow green foliage in the spring, taking on a whole new character in the autumn with leaf color turning burgundy and red before going deciduous for the winter. The Emerald Lace maple can easily be kept in a pot for many years, and is shipped potted in soil to ensure a healthier start when planted in yard or garden. Hardy to USDA zone 6 and all higher zones.
