Indian Summer raspberry would be your choice if home made jams, jellies, pies or tarts are your specialty. Find a home for one of these fruit producing plants in your yard and fresh berries will be at your finger tips. This raspberry variety, in colder climates, makes fruit the second year with fresh berries appearing in July, and then again in early fall. The indian summer is hardy to USDA zone 4 and all higher zones, doing best in full sun, growing to 5 to 6 feet tall. Also a good selection in the warm southwest, but it is necessary to prune canes to the ground to create dormancy. Re-growth will only produce fruit late in the season. Use this raspberry along fence lines and in strips too narrow for fruit trees. Makes an edible security barrier due to the thorns. Shipped as a potted one gallon plant in its original soil and container to ensure the best possible start when planted in yard or garden.
