Hudson's Golden Gem is one of the largest and best flavored russet apples. The apples are crisp and sugary with flavor described as nutty by some, pear like by others. Your Hudson's Golden Gems are conical in shape with a very distinctive appearance, fruit that is smooth and uniform with a light yellowish-brown russet over the entire surface. In most climates where it is grown, the fruit hangs on the tree into winter, and is a good keeper. This variety of fresh apple is medium sized, coming from a tree that is vigorous and winter hardy, as well as resistant to scab, mildew and fireblight. The Hudson's Golden Gem is estimated to need 800 to 1000 hours of chilling, so one good for colder winter areas. It is partly self fertile, but you will enjoy bigger crops with cross pollination. Shipped as a potted five gallon tree in its original soil and container to ensure a healthier start when planted in yard or garden.
