Plants that are shipped in soil generally do better than those which are not. Water upon receipt to settle the soil, handling the root ball carefully when planting.

Why pay high prices for fresh avocados? Consider our "year round avocado" package and you will have your own home grown guacamole non stop. Start with Hass, a premium variety with excellent quality fruit 7 to 12 ounces in size with medium, bumpy green skin turning black when ripe. The hass avocado is an excellent choice for orchard and backyard, ripening February to October. Just when the Hass is finishing, your Fuerte avocado will be ready to harvest starting in November, lasting through June leaving you in fresh fruit for 12 months. No more bland tacos. No more boring salads, now more alive garnished with avocado slices, your meals now loaded with vitamin C. Fuerte has excellent quality fruit 8 to 14 ounces in size with medium thin skin. Alternate bearer, taking some light frosts. An added benefit of pairing these two trees is pollination....each will pollinate the other for a larger, more consistent crop. Shipped potted in soil to ensure the best possible start when planted in yard or garden.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best way to prepare the soil in advance of planting an avocado tree?
Avocados like loose, rich, well draining soil. Blend any planting mix or potting soil into the dirt you take out of the hole prior to planting, and when placed back into the ground around the root ball, soil drainage and fertility will be improved. Avoid any manure based mix, as these have a tendency to be too salty.

Any suggestions on the best way to irrigate a newly planted avocado tree?
Water well after planting, and then water such that the soil stays consistently moist, not soggy or dry. It is o.k. for the soil to be moist all the time, just not squishy soggy.

Any other tips?
Handle the root ball carefully, making sure you maintain its integrity. Plant such that the top of the root ball is even with the top of the ground.
