Fireworks Goldenrod, also known as Solidago is a perennial highly rated by the Chicago Botanical Garden for performance. Flower stalks emerge late in the spring in preparation for the show of color mid to late summer. This easy care perennial produces 18 inch long arching spires of brilliant golden yellow flowers in opposing directions that are good for cutting. The whole plant becomes like one giant firework while in bloom. The goldenrod spreads slowly by underground rhizomes producing clumps that are easy to divide. The Solidago is tolerant of wet soils, growing well in full sun to partial shade. This cheery perennial is fast growing to about 3 feet tall when in bloom to about 4 feet wide. Hardy to USDA zone 4 and all higher zones. Herbaceous. Shipped potted in soil for better plant quality.
