Gardenia Crown Jewel is a "cool" gardenia to consider, as greater cold tolerance is its claim to fame, doing well down to around USDA zone 7. You do not have to miss that delightful fragrance and aroma that those in milder regions enjoy, as the Crown Jewel delights each and every time, loading up with double, white to ivory flowers May through July. Space a problem? Again, not to worry, as this gardenia cultivar only grows to about 2 feet tall by 5 feet across, so a great way to accent a shade bed that already has ferns, azaleas or rhododendrons. Mass plant gardenia 'crown jewel' for greater effect or use singly. Clip only if necessary, and feed with an acid plant food in spring. Shipped as a potted two gallon specimen in its original soil and container.
