Fukushu kumquat is a thornless tree with a compact growth habit, making an attractive ornamental in the landscape or in a patio container. The Fukushu kumquat has fruit that is oval about one and one-half inches long, with a rind that is orange and thinner than Nagami or Meiwa. The soft peel on the Fukushu is sweet and edible, with the fruit juicy and refreshing. These kumquats have only a few seeds, with orange acidic flesh and 5-8 segments. The fruit from this kumquat variety is the first to ripen, usually starting between Oct and March, and most readily available for early Chinese New Years. Kumquats are rich in vitamins A and C, and are generally eaten fresh with its rind, or transformed into marmalades, jellies, and so on. We ship all of our citrus trees potted in soil to ensure a healthier start when planted in yard or garden. Can not ship citrus trees to TX, FL, or AZ. Photo used courtesy of Carla C.
