Female Fruiting PistachioTrees--Set of Two
Pistachio trees will be an excellent addition to any home orchard. Be sure to purchase a male tree as well, as two trees are needed for pollination, with one male tree pollinating up to eleven females. Pistachios need long hot summers to ripen. The trees are slow growing, eventually reaching about 20-25 feet or clip to shape; they are drought tolerant. Pistachio nuts grow in grape like clusters, and are good eaten fresh, used in baking or even in some main dishes. Their slower growth makes them an excellent choice for containers. The female variety is Kerman, and the male variety is Peters. Be careful when planting not to disturb the root ball too much. The trees are shipped potted in their original soil and container to ensure a healthier start when planted in your orchard or garden, and will ship about 3-4 feet tall. 800 chill hours needed.
