Eversweet fruiting pomegranate gets its name because, well, the fruit is very sweet, with even immature fruit being sweet. The red little beauties on your new pomegranate tree are virtually seedless, with red skin and clear (non-staining) juice. Harvest your ‘eversweets’ late summer through fall whether you garden on the coast or inland. Pomegranates usually end up around 8-10 ft. with an arching habit, yet can be trained as a tree with a single trunk or as an espalier. The large, showy, orange-red flowers in the spring an added bonus. Pomegranates like the heat, and are not too picky on soil, even liking it a bit alkaline. Water consistently until established. Only needs about 150 hours chilling, yet hardy to around USDA zone 7, so a worthwhile consideration in many parts of the country when used as a container plant. Self-fruitful. Shipped potted in soil to ensure the best possible results when planted in yard or garden.
