Rhododendron Impeditum is a dwarf evergreen shrub with tight compact form. This tiny plant displays gorgeous clusters of bright purple flowers in late spring. Some protection from winter wind is helpful. Use for accents and specimens. Slow growing to only 1 ft. Prefers partial sun. Hardy to -20 to -10°s. So low growing, this hardly seems like a Rhododendron, but it`s luscious purple flowers give it away. It`s a natural for filling in the edges of shade gardens, and is perfectly scaled for courtyards and city gardens. A very romantic plant for cottage gardens anywhere. Treat it as a woody ground cover in front of taller plantings. Excellent for disguising the exposed legs of larger acid-loving shrubs. A natural for around the edges of water features and water gardens. Shipped as a potted two gallon specimen.
