This new “Rose of Sharon” Althea will definitely spice up the blooming shrub bed, its double flowers appearing kind of like carnations from a distance so a most unique look to enjoy. Plant the Danica in full sun, as it is one tough plant liking lots of heat. Be sure to amend the soil as you plant for best results. It does grow to about 8 to 10 feet tall if you allow it, so a blooming wall of color will easily stop traffic or make a stunning border. Mix the Danica with other evergreens to add a ‘pop’ of color to an otherwise dull color scheme. This Althea is hardy to USDA zone 5 and higher, so use with confidence in most areas of the country. Water well throughout its first few summers with the plant eventually becoming drought tolerant as it matures. The Danica will be shipped potted in soil for best results when planted in yard or garden.
