Lagerstroemia indica Dynamite
Try the new crape myrtle variety “Dynamite” for an explosion of bright red color in your yard this summer. This new lagerstroemia variety is the first true red crape myrtle variety growing tall enough to be trained into a tree, yet versatile enough to be grown as a hedge or screen. Any way you use this one tough plant, you will be treated to lots of reliable color mid summer to early fall. The brightest red color is in the full hot sun, where as some shade will fade the color a little, with flecks of white sometimes appearing on plants in more shade giving a two toned effect. The “Dynamite” variety of crape myrtle is mildew resistant, allowing you to enjoy the true beauty of this plant with less maintenance. Foliage emerges reddish in the spring, maturing to dark green in the summer and then turning orange and red in the fall. The trunk and branches appear rugged in the winter, especially after a rain, making Dynamite Crape Myrtle truly a plant that gives lots of interest all throughout the year. This lagerstroemia variety grows to about 15 feet or clip to shape. Hardy to USDA zone 7, root hardy to zone 5 or 6. Shipped as a potted five gallon specimen to ensure a healthier start when planted in yard or garden.
