Coral Bark Japanese Maple is an Acer variety that will give and give when it comes to adding seasonal interest and color to your garden. It has deeply cut light green leaves that display attractive red margins turning golden yellow in the fall. You will see why this tree is called the coral barked maple once cold weather hits, as you watch this small tree begin to glow with fiery red, coral colored bark in the winter. It is quite a sight seeing such brilliant color against the back drop of a pure white snow fall. The Acer "Sangokaku", as it is also known, grows to about 15 to 18 feet tall or clip to shape, doing best with partial shade in the afternoon. Keep soil consistently moist, but never soggy. This Japanese Maple is hardy to USDA zone 5, and is shipped as a potted two gallon tree in its original soil to ensure a healthier start when planted in yard or garden.
