Japanese Maple "Butterfly" will be your 'go to' plant if you need a pop of color in a dark entryway or side yard. Also consider this Acer along a shady fence, or in a large container placed under the filtered canopy of a very large tree. From the Butterfly Japanese maple tree you will enjoy green leaves with a distinctive silvery white margin, foliage that takes on a nice scarlet-magenta hue in the autumn. Color is always changing on this little guy....new spring growth has a nice pink tinge. The container use of this tree is made easier by its slow growth rate and tendency for a more dense growth habit, thus minimizing clipping. If planted and never clipped, the butterfly maple may reach only 7-9 feet tall, but can easily be clipped to desired size and shape. A bit of full sun is o.k. in the morning hours, but be sure to allow for some shade in the afternoon. Hardy to USDA zone 6 and all higher zones. Shipped potted in its original soil and container for best possible results when planted in yard or garden.
