Bloomerang Purple Lilac is new introduction from Monrovia growers and one that will be unlike any other. The 'Bloomerang' earns its title well, giving lots of color in the spring and then returns for a command performance throughout the season. If you're surfing the web and run across Syringa x 'Penda', this is the other name for the 'Bloomerang'. The size of this new little guy stays a bit shorter in the landscape, usually ending up in the 4 to 8 foot range if not clipped, so many possibilities exist for tucking into the mixed border or mass planting as a foundation plant. As with all lilacs, this selection has flowers good for cutting, also attracting butterflies and on a plant that is deer resistant. How can you go wrong? Hardy to USDA zone 3 and higher, lilacs usually make it through most winters. The bloomerang does rest a bit in the extreme heat of the summer, but you would have enjoyed color up to that point and then a bit more into the fall. Shipped potted in soil for best possible results when planted in yard or garden.
