Belle de Boskoop apple is a highly esteemed cooking and pie variety, and an outstanding dessert quality apple as well. The Belle de Boskoop will fill your fruit buckets to overflowing with large to very large fruit. The apples are green with red skin in patches and stripes with a brown russet. Your home grown apples are coarse in texture, crisp, juicy with creamy white flesh that is richly flavored, sweet-tart to sub-acid, and highly aromatic. This apple variety keeps well, and improves in storage. The Belle de Boskoop apple tree has a very late harvest, and is a large tree with open shape and drooping branches. This variety originated in Holland in the 1850's. 800 to 1000 chill hours needed, so will do well in extreme winter areas. Needs pollinator such as Yellow Delicious. Shipped potted in soil to ensure the best possible start when planted in yard or garden.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best way to use the apples from this variety? Often times I can't eat them as fast as they come off the tree.
The apples are sweet-tart and crisp, so definitely a winner when making pies. Enjoy them as well eaten fresh, the crisp white flesh having many layers of flavor. Juicy. The apples keep well.

What can you tell me about the rootstock your apple trees are grafted on to?
This apple selection is grafted on M-111, which is an excellent all around rootstock for apples. It tolerates both wet and dry soil, as well as poor soil, and also resists wooly apple aphid and collar rot. M-111 induces bearing at a young age. Un-pruned tree height for trees on M-111 is 80-90% of standard, or about 15 to about 25 feet. Apple trees on M-111 may be held to any desired height by summer pruning.
