The Banana shrub is a very unique plant! This evergreen shrub offers fragrant, creamy yellow blooms shaded with purple that have a strong, banana like scent. This Michelia variety is a compact densely branched shrub displaying narrow, glossy leaves. Use the banana shrub near the front of borders so the fragrance can be enjoyed. This star performer is good in full to partial sun, slow growing to about 6-10 feet tall, but can easily be pruned to shape. Consider in a container or tub so the fragrance can be enjoyed up close, placing on a porch, patio or deck. Hardy to USDA zone 8 and all higher zones. Shipped potted in soil for best results when planted in yard or garden.
