Arapaho Crape Myrtle is one of those hard to find blooming plants...one whose flowers are a true red hue, the head turning color beginning mid summer. This crape myrtle variety is an upright and spreading tree or shrub with beautiful bark, a bark especially attractive while dormant. There's even a bit of fall 'show' to the foliage as it drops in the autumn for color and interest across the calendar. The Arapahoe grows at a moderate to slow growth rate, with much depending on care and adequate fertilizer during the season, eventually reaching about 20 feet tall and 10 feet wide or clip to shape. This crape myrtle variety is a National Arboretum hybrid that is mildew resistant, so plant the 'Arapahoe' in groups as a hedge or use as a small street tree or accent plant. All Lagerstroemia enjoy full hot sun and are hardy to USDA zone 7 and all higher zones. Your new plant will be shipped potted in soil for best possible results when planted in yard or garden.
